Former National Government Finance Minister Steven Joyce is being paid $4000 a day to chair the new Government’s “expert advisory panel” on infrastructure.
Joyce has the advantage that Ministers will regard him as, “One of us”, meaning that he will deliver opinions that the Ministers already hold. When you want to do controversial stuff it’s very convenient to be able to hire an “independent” expert to tell that you are right. For them this will be good value at $4000/day. For us, not so much.
Great read! It's clear that this is bad on all fronts, the mere optics of it makes my stomach turn. I really wish they would have appointed anybody else. I struggle to think Steven Joyce was the best option for this role. The wealth and opportunity in the untapped market, this infuriates me. Potentially naively hoping for the best, Steven we watching ...
The various political emails are getting out of control. Most reportings are so anti Government. The media needs to give them a chance to clean up the incredible mess left behind by the Labour Government.
Now we start to see who's still/really running the country

Good read that Bryce 👍
Yes, it reeks.
Logging in etc us becoming too difficult to fathom.
Very good read as always
Terrible decision to appoint a self-centred person in an NZ Infrastructure board.
This man represents his own interests and those around him.
He is the man that increased the weight limit for trucks resulting in our roads being in the worst state ever.
How can you appoint a man that that is biased against rail which NZ needs for the future and then to pay him 4k a day.
Appointed by similar thinking bureaucrats this is not a wise decision it's a decision that stinks of cronyism.
Enjoy your day
This govt is full of hypocrisy

Before they create their own incredible mess.......... So far they seem to have no moral compass. Just re-read the article above
