It’s been a tumultuous time in politics in recent months, as the new National-led Government has driven through its “First 100 Day programme”. During this period there’s been a handful of opinion polls, which overall just show a minimal amount of flux in public support for the various parties in Parliament – the levels of support for each party are roughly where they were at the last election.
There are a lot of people with short term memory problems in this world.
No pain - no gain and the terrible state of the economy after six years of economic vandalism from Labour is going to take a lot of pain to reverse and correct.
Given the unrelenting media attacks on the government since prior to its formation I'm surprised it's kept its share of the vote.
They are going to have to change the RNZ,TVNZ,NZOA boards and give clear directions on political neutrality with sanctions on episodes of opinion being reported as news
The degree of polarisation is going to increase otherwise
It's early days! Christopher is doing the perfect job. He is the 'manager' of a three party Government. He is giving NZ Fist and ACT oxygen so that they will still be viable at the next election. This is our first real MMP government - in the past second parties have been subsumed and disappeared for the next election. Don't take too much notice of these polls - they are heavily influenced by a left wing press that still has not realised that the election voted in the parties they didn't want. Sad for them, but reality. It's why TV3 and TVNZ are gurgle material; and who is sorry? Only themselves. NZ is capable of moving quickly and may come out of this mess we were given by Labour quite fast. But they'll need 6 years minimum to pull through. Let's look at the polls in 2 years! Rex
I suggest that the sample size of these polls is far too small but more importantly after the total incompetence of the Ardern/Hipkins Governments people have lost faith in all politicians of whatever political colour. The current spate of dishonest behaviour by some of the Greens' politicians has only added fuel to that feeling of derision. And the corrupt behaviour of the mainstream media and their total bias towards their previous paymasters has led to a total lack of impartial reporting. Unfortunately, they still wield some influence amongst the myopic electorate!
I dont think the mainstream Media wanted to give the new govt any honeymoon time, and the MSM have been so biased they have become irrelevant. In a cost of living crisis, the public wont care about losing a biased media, and I see them as expendable. So I am still glad I voted in a new govt, and they are taking care of business despite the strong media headwind. Scoring 4.6 is still a win.

Under the current circumstances, 4.6 is probably a jolly good score.
