As a matter interest. The report you just published on the ministry of health was written in its entirety by AI? How much influence did you have in what was written?
Does the report depend on what questions and parameters set by you?
Feeling uncomfortable about AI. Also the use of “deep state” in the NZ context. In terms of other content not sure why so much focus here is on Winston (an easy target and not loved by the media) vs Verrall, her sister-in-law, and the Ministry’s oversight or intentional obfuscation. And I am not a fan of Casey Costello, think she needs to go.
It's amazing if there is indeed a "scandal" about Verrall's relative working with Costello, familial interest undeclared. Has anyone fact-checked this? (Why believe anything this coalition government says.) Surely the bigger "scandal" is Costello almost promoting, by her reduction in excise taxes, the smoking of htp devices!
An interesting summary, Bryce. I agree with other commentators that it lacks soul. Another matter is that it just focused on the distraction created by WP and didn't remind readers of the links between NZ First and the tobacco industry and their gains financially. Also, the fact that several NZ First former staff members work for that drug company.
There is no doubt the MSM, LGNZ, leaks from every government department , have formed a far more effective opposition than TPM, Greens, and Labour.
The comments and articles from senior academics are even more polemical, implying and occasionally stating (Anne Salmond and Geoffrey Parker) that the public are incapable of even discussing, far less settling, important issues that their better have opinions on
As Hilary Clinton discovered, that is not a strategy to win hearts and minds!
Thank you for the exercise with AI Bryce I began to read and increasingly felt something was not quite right. I paused and reread the first half and decided what was missing for me was soul or maybe nuance. It is a perfectly acceptable collated report about the various possible interpretations by other people, but somehow empty - or may be lacking humanity. As a close follower of current affairs I realise I have no probably read other AI reporting and felt a similar lack of something. This is the first ‘honest IA ) example. Interesting.
This explains why an ideological purge of civil servants is required by our coalition Govt so they can do their jobs and get effective results. The people in the waka that are paddling the wrong way, need to be tossed out and replaced with people that want to help. The last Labour govt has clearly added as many acolytes and supporters as possible to civil servant ranks before they lost the last election. We can see that these changes have already been happening. It is a pity that we dont have a gas that just knocks out left-wingers.
I found this very interesting! I believe there should be full exposure of family relationships in governments of all stripes, to disable scandalous revelations being used as “amunition”!!
Peters needs to leave the stage , I for one have had a guts full of his BS

“In contrast, Hipkins has defended the public servant and emphasized”. -emphasised?
Interesting collation of viewpoints .
In the sharing around of blame, industry itself gets off Scot free. I don't agree with that.
