Some thoughts on LXNs Lowy zingers - Luxon continues “the fine tradition of Kiwi activism on the world stage” . That would be activism but not as we know it. The speech had some great stuff on near Pacific engagement but unfortunately overshadowed by the following revealing remark :
“Since 7 October, the Middle East has faced new waves of instability. Starting with Hamas’ deadly terror attacks. Then, the devastating conflict in Gaza, where an immediate ceasefire is urgently needed” - apparently Israel has no agency here nor any proximate cause to the need for NZ “to counter Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and restore the important principle of freedom of navigation” . In a devastating oxymoronic flourish NZ’s finest shampoo salesman trumpets (NZ’s) “demand that international rules are respected…because security is indivisible.” The Luxon “force multiplier “ crusade continues without a trace of self awareness..
Interesting but not as impressive as the days of PM David Lange and the Rainbow Warriors what happened to our natural right to protest being respected .i must admit it want easy to work in Tahiti with all the anti kiwi hysteria but they were an admirable bunch of those dreaded baby boomers so disliked by certain Green Party Reps and the Anti Apparteid gathering at sports up and down NZ. Good memories as a musician backing protesters so sincere in their concern for all New Zealanders and also around the Pacific and other countries suffering the effect of Apartied
Thanks for a good article Geoffrey disappointing and depressing though it is. I don’t get how it is that the leaders make these decisions without any public engagement. And we pretend because we have elections every 3 years we have democracy...
This "independent foreign policy" of which you speak, is it here in the room with us now? It seems always to have been a fetishistic figment of the imagination of academics and superannuated, over-the-hill Labour Party politicians. Every nation State has an "independent foreign policy" to the extent that they pursue their own interests, assessing issues making judgements as circumstances require. To suggest otherwise would be perceived as an insult by many. The idea that New Zealand can remain, in solipsistic splendour, immune to and detached from security concerns in our wider region is a dangerous delusion.
Kiwis are well on their way to oblivion .... with their eyes 'wide shut'
Kiwis are in for one hell of a shock ... when they finally realize the level of brainwashing they have been subjected to by MSM ... and how deceived they actually are ... 'reality' has simply become an 'IQ test' ... and the vast majority of Kiwis ... are failing it badly ... and even when someone like me points it out ... they still fail it ...

Hard to believe Luxon is representing the sentiments of the majority of New Zealanders.
